The 9th Annual

ONE WORLD Gala

During 2021, the World Affairs Council of Cincinnati & NKY has managed to pivot to virtual learning opportunities for students and teachers; innovate with virtual exchanges; and move quickly to continue to have monthly webinars with foreign affairs speakers. Despite the uncertainty, we remain committed to serving our community and helping to diminish boundaries. We served almost 4,000 students in 2021 with some in-person, mostly online learning opportunities.

This year, in whatever way we can safely accomplish it, the Council is going to continue creating international connections, raising awareness on imperative global topics, and developing empathy within students through creating an online learning platform.

We are excited to bring to you the ninth annual ONE WORLD Gala. As our only fundraiser during the year, we need your support to continue increasing students’ global skills for our world.

Play your part in these highly anticipated events that support ongoing educational and cultural programs designed to help students in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky live, work, and lead globally.

Kristyn Hartman, WCPO

We are so excited to welcome Kristyn Hartman, evening anchor of WCPO, as the emcee for our 2022 One World Gala!

Kristyn Hartman is a regional Emmy and Murrow award winning journalist who was born and raised in the Midwest. She graduated from Northwestern University where she majored in Radio/Television/Film. Over her more than 20 years in the business working in Joplin, Peoria, Phoenix, Charlotte, and Chicago, Hartman has produced shows, shot video, edited, reported and anchored. She says her favorite stories are the ones with great characters, and the ones that genuinely shine a light on a problem. In her spare time, Hartman says she loves being a student of the world. She has traveled to Germany, Italy, Costa Rica, Greece, Hungary, France, Peru, Spain and all over the United States. She and her dog, Miss Ginny, also love exploring the Tri-State!

You have truly made a difference in the region by choosing to support the World Affairs Council’s seventh annual gala and global trivia competition, ONE World, where all funds go to giving public school students access to global education resources!

We are happy and proud to report that there were a total of 32 teams playing with 200 people at the virtual gala. Nikhil, a Walnut Hills High School student, led his team to victory. We also celebrated with first time events such as Cocktails with Molly Wellmann and Meet International Restaurant Trail Owners! Together, we raised $63,000 to benefit the global education programs in Greater Cincinnati.

The World Affairs Council programs have been a platform for our students to be able to connect what they are learning in school to the world around them. Every event that we attend makes a sincere impact on our students and allows them to view the world in a different lens. Through the WAC programs, such as the Academic World Quest Team and International Summit on Education, our school has continued to challenge the way that our kids learn and how we can connect our content to the world around us.”
